The Buccaneer Den
When it was Ken Ruth’s time to take over the family business, he wanted to put his own stamp on it. He wanted to offer something more thematic and high end than the bar offered.
The Port Crescent Bar became the Buccaneer Den. The new iteration was inspired by sailing ships. Ken intentionally darkened the interior and added a huge amount of woodwork and nautical themed decor.
The Buccaneer Den thrived in the 70’s & 80’s with it’s seafood heavy menu and reputation as a late night party spot. We’ve only heard a small amount of the stories…and they’re fun!
Dark Sky Lodge & Tavern
In 2021 the property was purchased by the Boyle family to continue to breathe new life into old buildings and create something new for the community and visitors.
Since the property is surrounded by Port Crescent State Park with it’s hiking trails, beaches, and dark sky preserve, the Boyle’s want the new venture to work in harmony with and highlight the natural landscape as much as possible.
Remodeling started in February of 2021 and will continue for some time to come. They have big ideas for the buildings and the property. Keep an eye on all the progress on our social channels!
